Use of Adobe Analytics
The information stored on the Adobe servers cannot be directly traced to an individual because Adobe Analytics is used with the following settings: “Before Geo-Lookup: Replace visitor’s last IP octet with 0” and “Obfuscate IP-Removed.” The setting “Before Geo-Lookup: Replace visitor’s last IP octet with 0” causes the IP address to be anonymized prior to so-called geolocation by substituting zeros for the last octet in the IP address. For statistical analysis, the user’s approximate location is added to the tracking package, which still contains the complete IP address. Before the tracking package is saved, the IP address is then replaced by a single generic IP address when the setting “Obfuscate IP-Removed” is configured. This removes the IP address from the data record that is stored.
Integration of Social Networks / Use of Social Media Plug-Ins
Volkswagen AG uses so-called the social media plug-ins (“plug-ins”) of the social networks Facebook, Google+, and Twitter, and designates each with its well-known social network icon. These plug-ins are deactivated under the default setting of the websites of Volkswagen AG. Consequently, no personal data is initially sent to the plug-in providers when a webpage is opened. A plug-in is only activated by clicking on one of the grayed-out icons and then confirming in the notice screen that appears. After activation, the plug-in content is transmitted by the social network directly to your browser, which then integrates it into You have the right, exercisable at any time, to information regarding the processing and use of your personal data as well as the right to have this data corrected or deleted. These rights are exercisable free of charge by contacting Volkswagen AG through the e-mail address or through the contact information in the Imprint.
The integration of a plug-in results in the automatic transmission of data to the respective provider, who may store them. The provider is notified that you have accessed our website. This happens regardless of whether you have created a user account with the social network in question and are logged into it. If you are logged into the social network, the provider can directly match the data with your user account. The respective plug-in provider is able to use the data to create user profiles. Volkswagen AG has no control over what data the provider collects and how it processes them.
Please refer to the data protection statement of the respective provider for information on the purpose and scope of the data collection, the further processing and use of the data by the plug-in provider, and your respective rights and options as regards settings to protect your privacy.
